Soy Lime Marinade

Oh marinades and how I love thee. Marinades can really make for an outstanding flavor enhancer on meats, poultry, fish, and/or veggies.
Have I always made my own? Sadly, I cannot claim that I have. I am about to confess something so horrific you may want to stop reading now.
I USED TO BUY BOTTLED MARINADES.
Yep! The ones loaded with preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, GMOs, and other nasty, unhealthy ingredients. These processed options may seem convenient, but they come at a cost to your health and well-being. Instead, why not take control of what you eat by trying something homemade, like a sugar free blackberry jam recipe? It’s a simple, delicious way to enjoy natural flavors without all the additives and harmful chemicals.

After turning over a new leaf and starting our natural living/health journey, I learned how to decipher ingredients. And like many other folks I know, I was horrified to learn what was in EVERYTHING that I had been buying for years.
Bottled marinades were one of these things.
So, what’s a girl to do? Well, make her own of course!
And let’s get straight down to it…The Easy Homestead Style.
Supplies Needed:
- Gallon Ziplock Bag OR Pyrex Dish with a Lid
- 1/4 cup Bragg’s Liquid Aminos {or soy sauce-but we choose to go with Bragg’s due to GMOs and preservatives in regular ol’ soy}
- 1/4 cup Olive Oil
- 1/4 cup distilled water
- 4 drops LIME essential oil OR 1-2 teaspoons lime juice (to taste)
- 1/2-3/4 teaspoon fresh thyme- chopped
- 1 Tablespoon fresh Parsley- chopped
- 1 garlic clove- chopped
- dash of pepper
- 2-3 lbs meat (chicken, steak, seafood) {we used about 2lbs steak}
Instructions
- Add all ingredients {except meat} to bag or dish. Close bag/dish. Shake to mix flavors.
- Add meat to bag or dish. Close bag. Shake. Marinate in fridge for at least 30 min OR up to 12 hours. Turn over every 30 min-1 hr (or whenever you remember).
